Marwari Hospitals on Saturday evening launched a Mobile Blood Donation van.

This is another milestone for Marwari Hospitals, as the city-based hospital launched the much-awaited ‘Mobile Blood Donation Van’.
It is the very first of its kind launched from a private hospital in the entire Northeast.
Prior to Marwari Hospitals, only Guwahati Medical College Hospital (GMCH), a Government based hospital cum Medical College launched a mobile blood donation van.

Marwari Hospitals’ mobile blood donation van will be very beneficial and useful for those who want to donate blood but have a problem coming to hospital and donate the same.
It will be also helpful for regular blood donators because they don’t have to come to the hospital to donate blood.
The mobile blood donation van is scheduled to go places to organizing and facilitating blood donation camps.

President of Marwari Hospitals, Sarat Kumar Jain during a press meet on Saturday stated that the hospital is offering health care services at Marwari Hospitals at an affordable rate for more than 105 years.
Earlier the hospital was popularly known as Maternity Hospital since 1985 and afterward started providing multi-specialty services in 2002.

In recent times, Management has embarked upon multiple development projects.
The President also highlighted that Marwari Hospitals provides blood to almost 32 to 35 healthcare institutes in and around Guwahati city.
The existing blood bank is a 100 percent component blood bank.
During the Covid pandemic, Marwari Hospitals supplied around 7,150 blood components in the year 2020 which is more than 42 percent compared to 2019.
He expressed heartfelt thanks to CDE Asian Limited Kolkata for their generous financial support in procuring a mobile donation van. The blood van project has been initiated under the CSR initiative.
He further added that in blood bank services, the hospital is providing a 100 percent discount to all Thalassemia patients and a 25 percent discount to all patients admitted in the general ward.

The Management is studying to undertake the following projects on the priorities in relation to strengthening and development of blood bank:
• Addition of Apheresis facility (plateletpheresis and plasmapheresis)
• Development of advanced immune-hematology lab with facilities for antibody screening, identification, and titration.
• With the increase in workload to introduce an automated cell separator and one more refrigerated centrifuge for blood component separation.
• To add a sterile connecting device for pediatric aliquot preparation.
• Transfusion center for thalassemia patients and others.

Dignitaries present in the event were Sanjay Singh, Vice President of CDE Asia Limited Kolkata also addressed the gathering.
The other dignitaries present in the program were Blood Bank Chairman D.P.Bajaj, Vice President of Marwari Hospitals O.P.Lahoty, and Treasurer M.K.Agarwal.
Along with the guests, all the clinical and non-clinical staffs of Marwari Hospitals were also present in the launching program of the Mobile Blood Donation Van on March 20, 2021.
