A massive fire broke out at Mariani daily bazaar in Jorhat district in the midnight hours of Friday.
The massive fire devoured more than fifty (50) shops and warehouses containing several items.
Fire tenders reached the spot and were able to douse the fire but the shops, which included warehouses and few shops, were completely ravaged.
The fire was so fierce that it took more than a dozen fire trucks from Mariani, Jorhat, Rorya, and Titabor to put out the blaze.
As per recent reports, nobody was injured in the incident. However, goods worth lakhs were destroyed.
The cause of the fire is still unknown.
Police have reached the scene and further investigation is underway.
Later on, Mariani MLA Rupjyoiti Kurmi took stock of the incident.
