Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma said that several police outposts will be set up along the inter-state border with Assam. His government has been finalizing several locations for the same.
While talking about sensitive border areas, CM Sangma said that setting up any outposts in such “sensitive areas” will depend on the results of the talks between the two states. He agreed that setting up outposts in sensitive areas without inter-state consultation can lead to “more tension, aggression, and differences”.
The CM added, “But we will set up the outposts in the areas where there are no disputes,”. CM Sangma also said that he has spoken to Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma on the clash between locals and Assam police at Longkhuli village in Ri Bhoi district of Meghalaya. Both have decided that there should not be any further escalation and should try to maintain peace.
