Assam Water Resources Minister Piyush Hazarika on Friday attended a review meeting of the department at the Assam Water Building auditorium in Guwahati.
In the meeting, the current flood situation of the state was reviewed.
The minister has also directed the departmental contractors to modernize all the current work and to improve standards and to work at a fast pace.
He has also urged the additional chief engineers and executive engineers of the department working in all the districts of Assam to work for the betterment of the department.
The minister urged the engineers to act in compliance with social responsibility, stating that the water resources department had a negative image among the general public.
In his speech, the minister also mentioned that departmental work will not be done as per the contractor’s wish.
In the review meeting, he has also directed the departmental contractors to use advanced and modern techniques in all the ongoing projects and also gave orders to complete the projects expeditiously.

Apart from minister Pijush Hazarika, Additional Chief Secretary Syeduddin Abbasi sir, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Flood and River Erosion Management (FREMAA), Akash Deep, Chief Engineer of Water Resources Department, Barsingh Rangpi and Chief Engineer of Water Resources Department (Quality Control) and other officials were also present at the review meeting.
