On January 22 members of the Mata Savitribai Phule, Mahasabha began teaching 12 children of farmers at the Ghazipur protest site which has now led to the creation of “pathshala” for children of ragpickers.

It began with a motive to teach farmers’ children as they were not able to attend school. Currently, it consists of around 90 students with two batches, one at 10-12 in the morning and the other at 4-6 in the evening.

Children performed on the song ‘nanha munna rahi hoon’ after their daily classes got over on Saturday afternoon. The “pathshala” is situated at the centre of the protest in a tent.

The NGO is based out of Moradabad and has been contributing towards women’s empowerment and education. Students studying there belong to poor households and poor educational background.
