Anti-Corruption crusader Anna Hazare has confirmed that he will begin an indefinite fast at his hometown in Ahmednagar, Maharashtra from Saturday over various demands related to farmers.

Despite several attempts by senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders to convince the social activist not to go ahead with his fast, the crusader is adamant about his decision.
Earlier, former Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis met with Anna Hazare, but the social activist remained unfazed. BJP leader Girish Mahajan also held talks with him on Thursday morning.
The leader has also urged his supporters to stage protests from their respective locations but in a peaceful manner. The public figure, Anna Hazare on Thursday restated his intent to go ahead with his plan for an indefinite fast.

In a press statement on Thursday, the 84-year-old activist stated that the new farm laws do not conform to the ‘democratic values’ of India and people’s participation is necessary for the drafting of legislation.

“I will sit for the fast at Ralegan’s Yadavbaba temple. Those who want to extend support to the agitation can do it from their respective locations. However, in view of Covid pandemic, I urge everyone not to crowd during the protest.” Anna Hazare stated.

“I have been agitating for the crucial demands of farmers for the last four years. It seems like the government is not taking proper decisions on the issue of farmers. The government is not sensitive towards the farmers,” the anti-corruption crusader further stated on Thursday.
