After a nail-bitting finish, the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) will form government in Bihar after it attained majority in the assembly elections. As a result, Nitish Kumar is set to return as the Chief Minister of Bihar for the fourth term
NDA has won a total of 125 seats, while the RJD-led Grand Alliance could manage to acquire 110 seats.
However, the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) has emerged as the single largest party after winning 75 seats. In the close contest the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) grabbed a total of 74 seats and it’s ally Nitish Kumar-led Janata Dal (United) has won 43 seats.
Meanwhile, the Indian National Congress could only manage 19 seats and it’s lacklustre show has proved to be costly for the grand alliance.
Interestingly, Owasis-led AIMIM which won 5 seats could play an important role in the formation of the next government incase of a hung assembly.
