BSF To Undergo Tech Upgradation, Got Approval For Drones

National: BSF will undergo various technological upgradation. The technological upgradation of the force is in motion with the approval of various surveillance and security systems. The security forces got approval for 436 small and micro drones. This is for security surveillance near the border. Also, the anti-drone system is currently undergoing tests on the India-Pakistan border. This system will be helpful to shoot down any drones carrying weapons. Terrorists in Punjab and Jammu & Kashmir uses drone for carrying weapons.

Soon after Rakesh Asthana took charge, the BSF saw technological upgradation. Rakesh Asthana is now the full-time Director-General of the Border Security Force (BSF).

All the 1923 border outposts of BSF will get upgradation. More than 15,00 posts will get upgrades like sensors, CCTV and drone feeds from sector headquarters. This initiative comes under the Comprehensive Integrated Border Management (CIBM) plan.
According to a senior officer of the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), the cost will come around Rs. 88 Crore.

Security agencies along with BSF are currently testing an indigenous anti-drone system. The testing is done on the sensitive Punjab border near Pakistan. For the past year, Pakistan is using Chinese commercial drones to transport weapons and explosives. The drones transport the equipment to the Khalistani terrorists in Punjab. Also, the transport is done to jihadis in Jammu & Kashmir.

The new DG made his intentions very clear that BSF will be pro-active. They will not allow any activity against India. On August 21, the BSF killed 5 Pakistani intruders. They were carrying assault rifles and Afghan heroin.
The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) has started again under Rakesh Asthana. The G Branch or the intelligence branch has also started again under him.
