Of over 97 lakh healthcare workers, around 45% (43.7 lakh) have been vaccinated with the first dose of COVID-19 vaccine so far. The second dose shall be administered by February 13th as per government announcements.
Over 97% of the people who received the COVID vaccine, gave feedback expressing satisfaction of the overall experience. Whereas 11% said that they were unaware of the adverse effects following immunisation. Of the vaccinated people, 37 lakh were reached out to by the government for their feedback and out which only 5,12,128 responded about their experience with the vaccination process.
Data received from respondents show 97.4% said there was adequate social distancing at the booths, 98.4% had been informed about the process, 97.1% were asked to wait for 30minutes after vaccination and 97.4% were satisfied with the experience.
So far, 8,563 AEFIs have been reported which is 0.2% of vaccinated individuals, whereas 34 people have needed hospitalisation. “There is a structured and robust system of AEFI in the country which has been further strengthened in light of Covid,” health secretary Rajesh Bhushan said. There have also been 19 deaths post-vaccination, none of which have been causally related to the shot,
In fact, postmortems have been conducted in all deaths, and the state and national immunisation committees are reviewing the data.
The government is also hopeful that by Friday around 50% of healthcare workers will be covered for vaccination. Bhushan said vaccinations are currently going on in 5,912 public and 1,239 private facilities, adding that feedback had been received from vaccine beneficiaries through the Co-WIN system.
