National Desk: Uttar Pradesh gangster Vikas Dubey, the kingpin of the Kanpur encounter which resulted in the death of 8 police personnel last week has finally been arrested on Thursday. Dubey was arrested on Thursday morning from a temple in Madhya Pradesh after a five-day chase across four states.
The dreaded gangster was picked up by the police from the Mahakal temple in Ujjain.
According to reports, Dubey entered the temple premises in the morning around 7:50 am and a guard on duty, Lakhan Yadav, recognised him. He was stopped on his way out of the temple premises and the police were called.
However, there is another version of the arrest where Dubey shouted out his name in the temple premises, following which private security personnel present there apprehended him and informed the police.
According to the police, Dubey drove to Ujjain from Kota in Rajasthan after he was spotted in Faridabad, Haryana.
The news of the arrest broke just hours after two more aides of Dubey were killed in separate encounters with the UP Police.
