In two separate encounters in the Budgam and Shopian districts of Jammu and Kashmir, three unidentified militants and a policeman were killed, officials informed on Friday.
Following information about the presence of militants, security forces launched a cordon and search operation in Zanigam village in the Beerwah area of Budgam district. During the search operation, militants open fired towards the security forces.
The Officials say that two policemen were injured in the gunbattle. They were rushed to a hospital here for treatment but one of them succumbed.
Meanwhile, the officials also informed that three militants were killed by security forces in another encounter at Badigam in the Shopian district.
The identity and group affiliation of the slain ultras are being ascertained.
