Price of Petrol hiked by 8.40 Rs. per litre in the last 14 days. People, different organizations and political parties came on and staged protests. Rajya Sabha proceedings were adjourned till Tuesday amid protests. In the Lok Sabha as well, opposition members, including Congress, Trinamool Congress and Shiv Sena, staged a walkout protest against the fuel price hike.
In the Upper House, several opposition members had given the notice to discuss the price rise situation, but chairman M Venkaiah Naidu did not accept the demand. After two adjournments, opposition members were again came up on their discussion on the issue of price rise of petrol, diesel, and LPG.
Petrol prices were hiked for the 12th time in the last 14 days as global crude oil prices rose. The price of petrol is ₹ 103.81 in the capital city while ₹ 104.04 in Guwahati. The highest price in the State hiked to ₹ 105.80 in the district Lakhimpur.
