On Wednesday, four contract labourers of M/s Star Constructions working in Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) died following a dubious toxic gas leak in the plant. The four labourers were among more than 10 people felt unwell at about 9 am following a suspected coke oven gas leak.
A committee has been set up to look into the cause of the incident. The plant is functioning normally.
CEO of RSP, Dipak Chattaraj expressed condolences over the unexpected demise of the four workers and is ready to extend support to their families.
It is suspected that the injured workers were affected with Coke oven gas while trying to fix a pipe.
