IED Blast Near Israeli Embassy in New Delhi

A minor blast occurred near the Israeli Embassy in New Delhi at around 5.05 pm on Friday.

Police reports say that it was a low-intensity IED blast. Meanwhile, no injury has been reported so far.

“A very low-intensity improvised device went off at 5.05 pm near 5 APJ Abdul Kalam Road near Jindal house. No injury to any person is there and nor any damage to property was witnessed, except window panes of three vehicles parked nearby,” the Delhi Police said in a statement.

“Initial impressions suggest it was a mischievous attempt to create a sensation,” It added.

The Delhi Police Special cell reached the spot to investigate the matter. The area has been cordoned off amid heavy deployment of police forces.

The blast occurred 150 metres from the Israeli Embassy which is located at a distance of 2 km from Vijay Chowk where the President Ram Nath Kovind, Prime Minister Narendra Modi are attending the Beating Retreat ceremony.

This blast comes on a day when India and Israel are celebrating 29 years of diplomatic relations.
