Mumbai: Indian Railways on August 16 has given the approval to run special passenger trains for the Konkan region. Konkan region is located at the Maharashtra state. Keeping in mind the upcoming Ganapati Festival on August 22, the Indian Railways took this decision. More than 162 special passenger trains will be made available.
The Maharashtra government also requested the Railways to run special trains to avoid the rush for the Ganesh Chaturthi festival.
However, passengers availing the service will have to follow various Government guidelines. They have to home quarantine for three days and will also follow other COVID-19 norms.
The Indian Railways also plans to run additional Ganapati special trains in co-ordination with Western Railways and Central Railways. These special trains will run between Ahmedabad and Vadodara. The special trains will also run between Ratnagiri, Kudal and Sawantwadi Road Stations. All these special trains will clear the extra rush of passengers.
Indian Railways have urged all the passengers to follow travel guidelines. The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW), Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) issued the travel guidelines. Also, all the passengers have to follow the SOPs of the Maharashtra and Gujarat governments.
According to sources, the timing of a few special trains are:
• Train number 09416
The train will leave from Ahmedabad Junction at 9:30 Am on August 18 and 25. It will reach Kudal at 4:30 Am on the next day.
• Train number 09415
The train will leave from Kudal at 5:30 Am on August 19 and 26. It will reach Ahmedabad Junction at 12:15 midnight on the next day.
Passengers can book tickets on Passenger Reservation System (PRS) counters and IRCTC website.
