Indore Retains The First Position Again In Swachh Survekshan

National: Indore city once again retains the first position in the ‘Swachh Survekshan’ survey. PM Narendra Modi on August 20 announced the results of the ‘Swachh Survekshan’ 2020. This is the fifth edition of the annual cleanliness survey of the country. In the first edition of the survey, Mysuru won the first position.
The Indore city retained the first spot for the fourth time in a row. Surat city of Gujarat is in the second spot. While Mumbai’s Navi Mumbai is in the third spot.

In the virtual program of ‘Swachh Mahotsav’, a total of 129 top cities and states were awarded. Every year, the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs Organizes (MoHUA) the program. The ‘Swachh Survekshan’ covers around 42,42 cities, 62 cantonment boards, and 92 Ganga towns. The survey takes about 28 days to complete.

The best performing states in terms of overall performance are divided into two categories. The divisions are:
States with over 100 Urban Local Bodies (ULB) and states with less than 100 ULBs.
In the first category, Chhattisgarh bagged the award for the second time. Also, Jharkhand won the award in the second category.

In the category of population less than 1 Lakh, Maharashtra’s Karad won the first position. Saswad and Lonavala are in the second and third position respectively.
Jalandhar cantonment of Punjab won the Cleanest Cantonment award.
Ahmedabad got the award for the Cleanest city with a population of more than 40 Lakh. Also, Vijayawada won in the category of the city with a population between 10 Lakh to 40 Lakh. The cleanest small city in the category of the population between 1 Lakh to 3 Lakh is given to Ambikapur, Chattisgarh.
