The Parliament Standing Committee on Information Technology has called the representatives of Facebook India and Google India to appear before it on June 29 to hear the views of the two IT giants on safeguarding citizens’ rights and prevention of misuse of social online news media platforms. The committee will be headed by Congress leader Shashi Tharoor.
Earlier, the Committee on June 18 had called Twitter to appear before the panel to give representation on how to prevent misuse of social media and online news.
The development came in the midst of a conflict between Twitter and the Indian government over the new IT rules.
