President Of India Flags Off Flood Relief Supplies For Assam

News Desk: President, Ram Nath Kovind, flagged off 9 trucks of Red Cross relief supplies from Rashtrapati Bhavan on Friday. Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare, Dr. Harsh Vardhan was also present during the flag-off. The President of India is presently the President of the Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS).

 

The flood relief supplies for the people of Assam, Bihar, and Uttar Pradesh will be carried by train from Delhi. Red Cross branches of respective states will receive and distribute the relief supplies. The relief material includes tarpaulins, tents, cotton blankets, kitchen sets, mosquito nets, buckets, and two water purification units.

 

The relief materials also comprise of COVID-19 protection items- surgical masks, PPE kits, gloves, and face shields. These items will safeguard and protect health workers associated with IRCS medical services.

The supply of the above materials is in continuation and in addition to the material already provided by IRCS.

On the occasion of flagging off, R. K. Jain, the General Secretary, IRCS briefed the President on the initiatives and the work done by IRCS to serve the people affected by floods and COVID-19 in different parts of the country.

Officials of President’s Secretariat and IRCS were also present on the occasion.
