Ravi Kumar, Deepak Punia, Sakshi Malik Among 24 Wrestlers Representing India in The First Wrestling World Cup Since Pandemic

A squad of 42 members consisting of 24 wrestlers, nine coaches, three referees, and three support staff will travel to Belgrade in Serbia. The wrestlers will be representing India at the Senior Individual World Cup scheduled to be held from December 12 to 18, 2020.

Renowned wrestlers, Ravi Kumar Dahiya, Deepak Punia, and Sakshi Malik are among the Indian 24 players that will represent the country at the International level.
It will be the first International competition in which Indian wrestlers will be participating after the nationwide lockdown that was imposed from March due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Central government has sanctioned the participation in the tournament at an overall cost of about Rs. 90 lakhs including the air tickets, United World Wrestling license fees, visa fees, boarding and lodging, and pocket allowances of the team members and staff.

The wrestlers participating in the Wrestling World Cup tournament are:
• Men’s freestyle: Ravi Kumar Dahiya (57 kg), Rahul Aware (61 kg), Naveen (70 kg), Gourav Baliyan (79 kg), Deepak Punia (86 kg), Satyavart Kadian (97 kg), Sumit (125 kg).

• Men’s Greco-Roman: Arjun Halakurki (55 kg), Gyanender (60 kg), Sachin Rana (63 kg), Ashu (67 kg), Aditya Kundu (72 kg), Sajan (77 kg), Sunil Kumar (87 kg), Hardeep (97 kg), Naveen (130 kg).

• Women’s: Nirmala Devi (50 kg), Pinki (55 kg), Anshu (57 kg), Sarita (59 kg), Sonam (62 kg), Sakshi Malik (65 kg), Gursharan Preet Kaur (72 kg), Kiran (76 kg).
