The bail plea of Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS) leader Akhil Gogoi will be heard by the Supreme Court on Thursday. A bench comprising of three justices-  NV Ramanna, Surya Kant and Aniruddha Basu will be hearing the plea.

The KMSS challenging the Gauhati High Court’s order, where it rejected the bail plea of Akhil Gogoi citing his organization’s links with CPI(Maoist), filed the petition on January 27.

“We were not satisfied with the honourable Gauhati High Court’s order and filed a petition before the apex court challenging it. The case has been listed on February 11,” advocate Krishna Gogoi said.

Gogoi will be represented by Runamoni Bhuyan in the Supreme Court.

Akhil Gogoi has been in jail since December 12, 2019, for his alleged role in the anti-CAA violence.
