An encounter between the security forces and militants in the Anantnag district of Jammu and Kashmir has left a terrorist dead. The identity of the terrorist killed in the encounter is yet to be known.
Sources say that the encounter which started on Wednesday has reached its second day and is still on at the Kandipora Bijbehara area in Anantnag. The encounter was halted by the security forces at night and it was resumed on Thursday morning.

The militants had open fired on a joint team of police and army who were in a cordon and search operation in Kandipora which triggered a gunfight.
A joint team of local police and security forces is currently carrying out the operation.
