Union Home Minister Amit Shah got entangled into controversy again during his two-day visit to West Bengal when he paid his tributes to the wrong statue of freedom fighter Birsa Munda.
The Central minister was on the election campaign of the 2021 Bengal Assembly election, Amit Shah was in the tribal region of Jangalmahal, Bankura district, and decided to pay his tributes to legendary freedom fighter Birsa Munda. However, the statue he garlanded was not of the legendary freedom fighter rather he was a general tribal hunter.
This act by Shah was not taken well by the tribal community and they were upset, they further added that the act was an insult to Birsa Munda.
Later, Trinamool Congress (TMC) also targeted Amit Shah and mentioned him as “Bohiragato” (outsider).
Talking about the incident on Twitter, TMC stated, “Bohiragato are at it again!
Union Home Minister @AmitShah is so ignorant of Bengal’s culture that he insulted Bhagwan Birsa Munda by garlanding a wrong idol & placed his photo at someone else’s foot. Will he ever respect Bengal?”
