Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari while speaking during the Question Hour on Thursday announced that toll plazas at the national highways will be removed within a year. The Union Minister said that a GPS-based toll collection system will replace the toll plazas from next year.
“I want to assure the House that within one year all physical toll booths in the country will be removed. It means that toll collection will happen via GPS. The money will be collected based on GPS imaging (on vehicles),” Gadkari said.
