Touch of Humanity a Registered NGO launched and self-proclaimed August 14 as Triumph Day(Let’s Give Freedom). From August 14, 2021, onwards they will be observing and continuing with the project and campaign every year in the future. It is a project and campaign initiated in context to Independence Day, Freedom Month to celebrate Independence in a real sense by giving freedom to 100 numbers of Underprivileged school-going Girls of the remotest corners of our State-Assam from the bondage of those days of Periods.
“The Concept of the project was developed by me however I would like to give the credit to Tanmi Hazarika, a prominent social worker as under her leadership I got to experience the ground reality of the problems facing by our underprivileged little sisters of the remotest corner of our State. We self-proclaimed August 14 as like India was about to get her freedom from the British on the very day likewise we are about to give freedom to our sisters from the bondage of those days of periods and co-incidentally Tanmi’s birthday is on the same day and to honor her for being the inspiration I choose the date August 14 and will be celebrated and continue with the project every year in future.
With the help of our well-wishers and the well-wishers of the society, we oath to
make Menstrual Health & Hygiene a Habit, ensure Equality by reducing absenteeism of girls in school during Periods, Empower the girls by giving them 5 of ‘those’ days back, ensuring regularity in studies and active participation in other activities.” said Hirak Jyoti Bora, Founder/President. The project will be accompanied by awareness camps on Menstrual health and hygiene etc, most importantly Freedom Kits for 12 months (session 2021-22)will be provided to each of them which will consist of Sanitary Pads, soap (IMA Recommended), Detergents, Dark Chocolates.
