Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan on Saturday had asked the Health Ministers of all states and Union Territories to shift the focus on large containment as the situation is worsening every day.
The Union minister also assured that there is an adequate and regular supply of vaccines. He has also asked all the state Health Ministers to change the containment strategy.
During the video conference with Health Ministers of various states, the Union Minister said, “We can now focus on bigger containment zones which can be called community quarantine to change the strategy”

Clarifying how the Centre supplies vaccines to the states, the minister said that large states get supplies on the fourth day while smaller states get supplies on the seventh day.
“So either on every 4th or 7th day, vaccines are being supplied” Harsh Vardhan clarified.

Urging the states to strengthen the health workforce, the Union Minister stated that at present, there are over 18 lakh Covid-19 beds in the country.
“We have been doing genome sequencing before this UK variant came to the world’s notice. We have been doing everything required to bring the situation under control.
This year, we have vaccines in our holster to fight the pandemic.
The unprecedented surge in the number of daily infections has forced many states to impose restrictions again.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi also highlighted the need for micro containment zones, without imposing lockdown on a larger scale.
