Amid Covid-19 Pandemic Assam Celebrates the Second Day of Jonbeel Mela

Today is the second day of Jonbeel Mela. Meanwhile hundreds of new Covid-19 cases have emerged everyday in Assam. Due to the present situation the Jonbeel Mela has not been celebrated with the same grandeur style this year as it has been in the past.
Without the usual fanfare due to the pandemic Assam managed to celebrate the historic Mela which was inaugurated on Friday morning on the banks of the historic Jonbeel by Jeevan Chandra Konwar, Chief Executive Member, Tiwa Swataparishad.
Keeping mind about the present Covid situation the Jonbeel Mela Samiti curtailed several and frolic items from the programme of Jonbeel Mela.
Meanwhile, the exchange practice in the early hours of Friday morning, the traditional fisheries of Jonbeel are scheduled to be hunted and the rajdarbar is scheduled to run in the afternoon. Minister Piyush Hazarika will provide allowances to 18 symbolic kings of central Assam on this occasion.
It is also noted that the news of Cancellation of Jonbeel Mela by the organizers due to the deteriorated situation has been reported yesterday. Yet with a little gathering Assam has sought to celebrate Jonbeel Mela this year.
