In a horrific incident where a man named Sikom raped a girl in Arunachal Pradesh has been sentenced for 20 years of imprisonment today. The incident took place at Sikarjio on 8th September in 2021.
Sikom invited the victim and her sister, who are the daughters of his brother-in-law. He invited them to his house for a casual visit. Sikom told them to stay. While the sister of the victim left and the victim stayed back, later that night Sikom got drunk and forcefully raped her.
A special court in Lepa-Rada district designated under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POSCO) convicted the man under Section 06 of the POSCO Act for ‘aggravated penetrative sexual assault’ on the minor girl.
The man who pleaded guilty of his crime has also been ordered to pay a fine of Rs 1500 by the court.
