Days after Flipkart mistakenly said it don’t deliver in Nagaland, claiming the state not a part of India, Chinese smartphone company Xiaomi has come under recent talk of the social media.

A technical error in Xiaomi weather app led to the disappearance of Arunachal Pradesh, which sparked social media controversies and rumours about the company supporting the Chinese Communist Party’s agenda that Ladakh and Arunachal Pradesh aren’t recognized as part of India.

The spokesperson from the company confirmed that it was a technical error and has been fixed now.

“We would like to clarify that the weather app on our devices uses data from multiple third-party data sources and we understand that for many locations, the weather-related data is not available on the current app. This is a technical error on our application,” the company said in a statement.

“We are working on improving the app to get the best experience for our users. As always, we are committed to India and our users across the country to provide them with the best possible user experience,” the company added.

Reacting to the technical glitch, Ninong Ering, MLA from Pasighat West and former MP from Arunachal Pradesh said, “We are an integral part of India. If they think Arunachal Pradesh is a part of China, they [Xiaomi] have no rights to comment.”

Netizens went crazy over the technical glitch and have slammed the company. Twitterati including legislators have questioned the policy of the company and have raised issues such as its awareness on India.
