Fixed-wing aircraft under the Centre’s Udan scheme will shortly begin operations in Arunachal Pradesh’s picturesque Mechukha valley in the Shi-Yomi district.
Mechuka, the district headquarters town, is getting an Advance Landing Ground (ALG).
Arunachal Pradesh Assembly Speaker PD Sona, who represents the Mechuka constituency, met with officials from the Indian Air Force (IAF) and the Shi-Yomi district administration on Wednesday and discussed different concerns concerning the ALG and civil terminal, according to a press release.
Sona emphasised the importance of air service in the distant district bordering China, saying that once operating, the ALG would help not only the people of the district but also tourists who want to visit the enchanting Mechukha valley.
Sona advised the IAF to always contact state administration for assistance or to resolve concerns, stating that efficient collaboration between civil administration and the IAF is critical for safety and security and dual utilisation of the ALG.
He encouraged the IAF officials, however, to offer early approval for the construction of the entry and departure gate at the civil terminal so that fixed-wing civil air services can begin in the district’s best interests.
The speaker also advised building adequate inlets and outlets for free-flowing water to prevent inundation and flooding of the ALG and surrounding areas during the monsoon season, according to the statement.
