Scindia practically launched the flight from New Delhi. The flight will connect Itanagar with Mumbai via Kolkata. Law Minister Kiren Rijiju, among others, virtually attended the event.

IndiGo Principal Adviser RK Singh announced Itanagar as the airline’s 75th domestic destination at the event. On November 19, Prime Minister Narendra Modi dedicated the airport. It is the state’s fourth operational airport.

‘Donyi’ refers to the sun, and ‘Polo’ refers to the moon. The airport, which is also Arunachal Pradesh’s first greenfield airport, was built on an area of over 690 acres at a cost of more than Rs 640 crore.

The airport is open during all weather conditions, and the runway is 2,300 metres long. The northeast region now has 16 airports.
