Meghalaya: Rally in Shillong over hike in unemployment rate

Rally

The Federation of Khasi, Jaintia, and Garo People (FKJGP) is organising a public rally in Shillong on October 28 to highlight the state government’s failure to meet the employment needs of the state’s youths.

According to the federation’s members, the rally will begin at 11 a.m. from Motphran to the Fire Brigade Ground in Laitumkhrah, followed by a public meeting at 2 p.m.

“It has been noted that no positive steps have been taken by the government to increase employment for the youths of the state which is affecting the productivity of our youths and driving many towards unethical ways and means of living. The rally cum public meeting being organised is a testament that the youths will not hold back anymore if any government fails to provide what they rightfully deserve,” said a release announcing the rally.

The federation also stated that more public rallies would be held in various parts of Garo Hills at a later date.
