The home minister of Mizoram Lalchamliana on Thursday stated that the state government is not going to withdraw its forces from the  Assam-Mizoram border till normalcy returns in the region.

Lalchamliana, while addressing the media said that the Mizoram government accepted the demarcation notified in 1875 under the Bengal Eastern Frontier Regulation (BEFR) of 1873 as the actual boundary of Mizoram.

It was a historical boundary of the state which has been accepted since the forefathers of Mizos, the minister added.

The home minister’s assertion comes a day after the Mizoram government was asked by the Cachar district administration to remove its forces from the Assam-Mizoram border areas.
