Mortal remains of of Naga National Council Vice President laid to rest after 43 years

The mortal remains of slain former vice president of Naga National Council (NNC) Thepushu Venuh were laid to rest at his ancestral village on Thursday after 43 years.  Lt Thepushu Venuh. He was  killed by one of his comrades on November 27, 1979.

His body had remained buried at the Naga homeland of Hemi Region for the last 43 years, till it was recently retrieved through “divine revelation”.

The event was chaired by the former CPO president Pusazo Lürüo. Bible reading and prayer was offered to Lt Thepushu Venuh.

Thepushu was a great leader and a true gentleman who worked for the Naga nation. He was also a recipient of the Nagaland Star Award and was the last vice president of the unified NNC.

The CPO president Vezühü Keyho said, “In life-and-death situation, Lt Thepushu did what he was meant to do and chose the ultimate sacrifice as the way forward. Today, I am sure AZ Phizo is also celebrating the glorious life of Lt Thepushu along with the Chakhesang people on this historic day”.

The Chakhesang Youth Front (CYF) president Vezhodüyi Nakro urged the deceased under the NNC bannerhad made the ultimate sacrifice and so rightly deserves the homage.
