The negotiations between the Centre and the Naga rebel groups were on hold due to stubbornness and narrow-mindedness of few people, but now after two weeks political negotiations were over and the final solution has to be agreed upon, Governor of Nagaland and middleman RN Ravi said on Friday.

The Governor while addressing the first day of the seventh session of the 13th Nagaland Legislative Assembly (NLA) mentioned that the main area of focus was to resolve the ongoing Naga political issue even while fighting the pandemic for the last many months.

The Governor said, “With the negotiations being concluded, there is now a need for efforts to build on the substantial gains made so far, and to move swiftly for the “final solution”.

RN Ravi in his speech on Republic Day stated that politics by gun has divided the Naga society and recognised Naga society has never accepted violence as a political agenda.

The Isak-Muivah led faction of the National Socialist Council of Nagaland (NSCN-IM) demanded a separate Naga flag and constitution, which was rejected by the Governor. Since the year 1977, the NSCN-IM and the government of India have been conducting peace talks, even medley of seven different Naga national political groups (NNPG) have been engaged in talks with the Centre separately since 2017.

The Naga tribal, civil society, and the state government have been continuously repeating and calling for armed groups to come together to find a solution for the sake of everyone.
