The Oting village in Mon district, Nagaland, was visited by an inquiry team of the Indian Army on Wednesday to investigate the botched counter-insurgency operation that killed 13 innocent civilians.
The team headed by a senior rank officer, and a Major General, inspected concerned site in order to understand the circumstances that led to the occurrence of this incident.
“The Court of Inquiry constituted by the Indian Army to investigate the Mon incident visited the site at Oting Village on December 29, 2021. The inquiry team, headed by a senior rank officer, a Major General, inspected the site to understand the circumstances in which the incident could have happened,” a statement from the Indian Army informed.
“The team also took along the witnesses for better understanding of the situation & how events would have unfolded,” the statement said.
In addition, the inquiry team also visited the Tizit Police Station in Mon District from 1:30 PM to 3 PM to meet several locals including civilians, police personnel and doctors who treated injured for obtaining valuable information relating to the incident.
