E-commerce giant Flipkart came under heavy criticism after telling a customer it does not provide services outside India when asked by Nagaland resident why it wasn’t delivering to the north-eastern state.

One user asked on the Bengaluru-based Company’s Facebook page as to why they don’t deliver in Nagaland, in response, the company said, “Sorry to hear that. We appreciate your interest in shopping with us. However, sellers do not provide our services outside India.”

Realizing the error, after netizens slammed the company on social media, Flipkart apologized and wrote, “We are extremely sorry about the inadvertent error earlier. We strive to ensure serviceability across the nation, including regions in Nagaland. We are happy to connect with you and provide currently available options.”

The mistake was enough for the social media to go frenzy, even catching the attention of Nagaland’s former director-general of police, Rupin Sharma. Sharma took to Twitter and wrote: “Although not with Flipkart, even I had this experience once. Nagaland is India #Flipkart”.

Despite the e-commerce giant apologizing, social media is still on furore with users across India asking for action against the company.
