Two civilians in Tirap district in Arunachal Pradesh has been “mistakenly shot” at by Army personnel. The Army sent them to the Assam Medical College and Hospital (AMCH) in Dibrugarh for treatment.
The incident took place on Friday evening in Chasa village, when two locals, Nokphya Wangdan (28) and Ramwang Wangsu (23), were going home after fishing in a river. According to Army sources, it was a case of mistaken identification.
One of the two was shot in the hand and the other was shot in the toe.
“Both of them are orphans. Now, one’s hand is injured and another’s leg is wounded. The government will have to do something for them,” said a villager who was scorting the injured people to the hospital.
The BJP president of Tirap district, Kamrang Tesia has shared his grief over the senseless act of the army personnels.
