One person impersonating MLA Jayanta Malla Baruah has been arrested by city police.
On Wednesday, complainant Sandeep Jalan, a resident of Geetanagar in Guwahati, lodged a complaint that one person impersonating MLA Baruah demanded Rs 30 lakhs from him.
After investigation, the police were able to identify the culprit Navadeep Sharma of Satgaon.
The accused was apprehended and in the preliminary investigation, it came to light that the accused has saved his own phone number as Jayanta Malla Baruah in the true-caller app.
Meanwhile, he accepted that he has extorted money from five persons for jobs. However, Investigation is going on.
