On Thursday, Assam Education minister Ranoj Pegu said that no cast information other than ST, SC and OBC shall be required for admission in schools and colleges.
Taking to his twitter, Ranoj Pegu wrote, অনুসূচিত জাতি, জনজাতি আৰু অন্যান্য পিছপৰা শ্ৰেণীৰ বাহিৰে কোনো জাতি বা বৰ্ণগত তথ্য বিদ্যালয় বা মহাবিদ্যালয়ত নামভৰ্তিৰ সময়ত প্ৰয়োজন নহয়। এই সম্পৰ্কত চৰকাৰৰ ফালৰ পৰা কোনোধৰণৰ নিৰ্দেশনা দিয়া হোৱা নাই। (1/2)

Pegu also requested that if any institution seeks such information, it must be withdrawn immediately.
The admission process for class 11 and Bachelor’s degrees has started in the states after the results of classes 10 and 12 were declared a few days back.
Students can apply for colleges or institutions via the online app ‘DARPAN’ which allows them to choose to apply to five institutions of their choice.
This time the education department has opted for online form fillup and other processes due to the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic in the state.
