Assam Chief Minister, Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma and Power Minister Bimal Borah held a review meeting with the officials of APDCL, APGCL, AEGCL and the Power department. The discussion revolved around measures to improve their performance.
Dr. Sarma informed via his social media platform that he asked the present companies to plug revenue loss and design modalities to increase their revenue earnings and profits, including an energised service delivery system for consumers.
The CM asked APDCL to prepare a list of cement companies and other high valued consumers and tally their production with GST returns and electricity bill. The aim is to bring in semblance between the total electricity consumed and the electricity bill paid.
APDCL is currently running in losses as the revenue is significantly lower (at Rs. 400 crores) than its expenses (at Rs. 550).
