Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma announces seven days leave in a year for employees of the State Government to spend time with their parents.
The announcement was made during the inauguration of an old age home in Sonapur.
Sarma said, “I have also asked the private organizations to follow the same rules and to grant a leave of 7 days leave to the employees.”

The Old Age Home located in Sonapur has been set up with a cost of around 3.50 Crore and the government has also introduced a helpline number for the elderly people.
Complain can be lodged at 14567 “Elder Line” if they face any problem.
However, Sarma has also announced a 100 crore for the home project for youth and the elderly at Boko.
