With flood starting to affect regions of Kaziranga National Park and animals moving towards highlands and roads, the Assam Forest Department and officials of Kaziranga National Park have set up numerous speed monitoring devices by the side of the highway in view of animal safety in the region.
Officials have informed that works of automated animal sensors are also in progress which will allow officials to halt vehicles while animals are passing through the corridors.
Speaking to an official source, the official said, “Our team is working day and night to make sure that no animals can be harmful. There is nine animal corridor where we have to install automated animal sensors,” he also added that there is speed control automated display machine in various places where vehicles can themselves see the speed of their own car.”
In case any vehicles go up more than 40 km have to pay fine up to Rs 5000. The trial is underway. This device also records the registration number of vehicles that ply beyond the set speed limit
