Students oppose hike in fee structure

Students of Tezpur University have opposed the decision to hike fees in various courses and blamed the authorities for captivating them to pay fees for in-campus services which they didn’t avail of as the campus has remained shut due to Covid restrictions.

As the state is already facing a pandemic situation, the students are standing against the fee hike by the central university which is causing a lot of problems for the students and their families in order to pay the fees.

The fees in Masters have increased by 1500 each year in 2020-21 and 2021-22 and hence a total amount of Rs. 3000 has been increased, while in Ph.D. course Rs 1350 was increased in 2021-2022. Integrated M.Sc fees have been increased by Rs 2,000 while integrated M.Com by Rs 1,200.

The admission fees for Ph.D. courses in Tezpur University have increased from Rs 5,800 in 2011 to Rs 17,000 (Rs 19,000 in some departments) in 2021, an increase of 190 percent.

However, Tezpur University clarified that no fee hike has been declared this year.
