Ace India shuttler PV Sindhu loses to Tai Tzu Ying (Chinese Taipei) (18-21, 12-21) in the women’s singles semi-finals on Saturday in Tokyo Olympics 2020. Sindhu started strongly against her rival but Chinese Taipie’s Ying bounced back and clinched the first game. Sindhu looked no match for her rival in the second game as her opponent faced all the attacks without much trouble, thereby, leaving a little space for Sindhu to bounce back into the game. Sindhu will feature in the Bronze Medal match tomorrow.
Meanwhile, India’s Women Hockey team kept their qualification hopes alive with a 4-3 win against South Africa in their Pool A Women’s Hockey match on Saturday.
Kamalpreet Kaur qualified for the finals of the women’s Discus Throw final with a 64.00 throw during qualification. Seema Punia failed to qualify.
India’s Amit Panghal faced an early exit in the Round of 16, losing to Yuberjen Martinez in the Men’s Boxing Fly (48-52kg) category. Archer Atanu Das lost to Japan’s Takaharu Furukawa in the men’s individual 1/8 Eliminations.
