Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Sunday warned of total lockdown in as many as eight districts of the state from June 23.
During a press meeting in Dulaijan, Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma said that if Covid 19 cases continue to rise, a total lockdown will be imposed in eight districts.
The seven districts where total lockdown is likely to get imposed are –
1. Sonitpur
2. Dibrugarh
3. Tinsukia
4. Jorhat
5. Cachar
6. Nagaon
7. Golaghat and
8. Biswanath
The total lockdown is likely to be imposed after taking stock of the Covid 19 cases. Covid 19 cases in these eight districts have been increasing rapidly.
As per information provided by the National Health Mission Assam, in the last ten days, Covid 19 cases have increased rapidly in 12-13 districts of Assam.
The tally of positive cases in last 10 days from 11 June to 21 June , 2021 in various districts are –
1. Sonitpur – 2,512 positive cases.
2. Kamrup Metro – 2,1112
3. Cachar – 2,056
4. Tinsukia – 2,034
5. Dibrugarh – 1,927
6. Golaghat – 1,894
7. Nagaon – 1,772
8. Morigaon – 1,650
9. Jorhat – 1,582
10. Kamrup Rural – 1,422
11. Biswanath – 1,101
