Traveling in National Highways of Assam Will Be Costlier from April 1

Traveling on the National Highways of Assam has now become dearer for the commuters.
The National Highway Administration has once again announced a hike in tollgate prices from April 1.

The decision to revise the tollgate price came amidst the Assam Assembly Election causing dismay among the general public.
Under the new revised rates, several toll plazas in the Assam will charge higher toll fees. It includes:
• Raha
• Manderbisa
• Madanpur, Baihata Chariali
• Najirakhat and
• Makirati, Dabaka.

National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has increased the toll tax by Rs. 5 for one-way on light vehicles and Rs. 15-25 one-way on commercial vehicles.
However, vehicles of the armed forces, fire service vehicles, ambulances, VIP sign vehicles have been exempted from paying the toll fees.
Recipients of the Param Vir Chakra, Mahavir Chakra, Ashok Chakra, Shaurya Chakra, Ashok Chakra will also be exempted from paying the toll charges provided they submit a photo identity proof certified by a competent authority.
