Serum Institute of India (SII) in a Media Statement informed that it will provide Covishield to government hospitals for Rs. 400 per dose.
It will charge Rs. 600 per dose to private hospitals as it prepares to open its vaccines beyond the use of the Central Government’s vaccination scheme.
For the next two months, the SII said it will address the limited capacity by scaling up the production.
“Going ahead, 50% of our capacities will be served to the Government of India’s vaccination program, and the remaining 50% of the capacity will be for the State governments and private hospitals,” the Official SII media statement informed.
The central government opened up vaccination for all adults in India above the age of 18 from May 1. It has asked state governments to procure the vaccines and also allowed private companies to sell them in the open markets.
