The party’s high command did not appear to hint at severing ties with the BPF at a special meeting held in Delhi on Friday. The BJP deferred its decision on the future of its alliance with the BPF in Assam until after the BTC election results.
During the meeting, Assam CM Sarbananda Sonowal said, “We appraised them about the schemes and projects taken up by the State government. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has helped the State and offered full cooperation. We will hold more discussions in the future.”
CM Sonowal declined to comment about the future of the party’s alliances.
The meeting was attended by Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, State BJP President Ranjit Kumar Das, Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, National General Secretary Dilip Saikia, North East Organizing Secretary Ajay Jamwal, and Assam organizational president Phanindranath Sarma.
