West Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar has been named the ruling NDA’s nominee for the office of Vice President of India. “We have chosen to declare Jagdeep Dhankhar as the BJP and NDA’s nominee for Vice President after all considerations and consultations,” BJP President JP Nadda stated.
The decision was made at Delhi’s Bharatiya Janata Party board meeting. The meeting was attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, and Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan.
The BJP has 394 MPs, more over the majority mark of 390, out of Parliament’s current strength of 780. The deadline for submitting nomination papers for the election is July 19, and the election is set for August 6.
