Speaking to the media, Chairman of Congress Party’s Campaign Committee Pradyut Bordoloi stated, “With these bus yatras, the top leadership of Congress shall fan out into the remotest corners of the state and discuss with people the state’s issues and problems.”
“Today Assam is facing a grave crisis. The state’s peace and prosperity are both under threat from Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). To save our state from this crisis, we have to go to the people for a better future.” the MP further stated.
The ‘yatras’ will be led by Pradyut Bordoloi, Gaurav Gogoi, Debabrata Saikia and Sushmita Dev.
The first phase of the yatra will be headed by Pradyut Bordoloi and will begin at 10 am on February 12. The yatra will start from Bordua Satra, the birthplace of Srimanta Sankardev under Batadraba Assembly constituency, Nagaon.
Leader of Opposition Debabrata Saikia will kick off his bus yatra on February 12 at 3 pm. He will start his journey after paying homage to Piyali Phukan in Sivasagar city.
In his statement, Saikia said, “People of Assam are fed up of BJP’s misrule. In my Yatra, I shall be interacting with diverse sections of the society to understand the needs to be done the most over the next five years to bring peace and prosperity in Assam.”
Kaliabor MP Gaurav Gogoi will begin his yatra from Guwahati after paying tributes to great Assamese warrior and Ahom leader Lachit Borphukon at his memorial. Gogoi’s yatra will start at 12 noon on February 13.
“I shall go through Jagiroad of Morigaon districts and meet party workers and the common public place understanding their concerns” Gaurav Gogoi stated.
All India Mahila Congress President Sushmita Dev will start her yatra from her home town Silchar. The leader will be touring the Barak Valley.
“I am confident that the Congress-led Mahajot will win 101 seats in the upcoming Assembly election. Our ground assessment and surveys tell us that there is a colossal groundswell of anger against BJP government. The ‘Axom Basaon Ahok’ campaign shall give people a platform to speak up and make Congress party a vehicle of their aspirations.” Sushmita Dev stated during the press meet.
